St. Patrick’s Day in Gananoque

A field of shamrocks

Did you know that Gananoque has its own Irish Pub? Stonewater Manor is a great place to spend St. Patrick’s Day.

However, if you’re looking for family-friendly fun, you could also try some of these ideas:

Green Food and Drink
You don’t need food colouring to find green food (though food colouring often helps). Green smoothies can be made with kale or avocado and make a healthy St. Patrick’s Day treat. Green pasta can be bought pre-packaged at the grocery store, and there is always lime sorbet and mint-chocolate ice cream. Spinach, zucchini, kale, and matcha are all great green ingredients to make your meals and treats a little bit more celebratory.

Houseplants are soothing and improve your indoor air quality, and planting a shamrock is an easy and fun St. Patrick’s Day activity. Gananoque even has a horticultural society that could help if you run into trouble. Be careful if you have pets, though! If eaten in large amounts, shamrocks can be poisonous to dogs and cats.
A loaf of Irish soda bread

Corned Beef and Cabbage and Irish Soda Bread
There are so many easy and delicious traditional Irish recipes. Corned beef and cabbage are favourites that can be served in soups, stews, and traditional dishes. If you like the idea of no-rise ‘quick’ bread but don’t like the fizzy taste of most quick breads, Irish soda bread is a great bread to try! Quick and easy, this whole-wheat bread isn’t fizzy and only takes minutes to mix together and pop into the oven
No matter how you celebrate, happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and yours!
